I would never leave my dogs with anyone when we are away and that includes family members.   Ours go in to kennels where I know they are in a secure place.

We never kennel ours , neither would we leave with a neighbour, the only one I trust with our beloved shelties is our son . If he moves out of home, then the gang will come with us if we go away.....or we won't go away. They come first.

Ours never go in kennels, after a kennels nr Basingstoke where we used to live, lost our blue merle Sophie while we were away at my mum's funeral. Traumatic or what  tissue  wouldn't trust any kennels ever again. madangry

How awful Sam. I agree,I wouldn't trust kennels, heard far too many stories about dogs going missing whilst in their 'care' 😔

Missing sheltie

Poor little dog. We never leave ours with anyone including kennels, they come with us. A friend had her dog lost from kennels, they are not as secure as you would think.

I have every faith in our kennels as the owners live on site.  It is near Dorchester so a 40 minute journey for us each way but it is the only one in the area I trust and I have used them for 20 years.

That's great that you feel you have trust and faith in the kennels you use. Personally, I couldn't even leave mine in kennels, regardless of who is running the business. We have an elderly family friend who adores her cat, she thought of having a once in a lifetime holiday a few years ago and went to visit a recommended cattery . Everything was fine until she looked at all the cats staying there at the time and felt that she just would not be able to enjoy a holiday knowing her cat was being boarded. She chose not to take the holiday. I m afraid I would be the same.

Still missing according to the link I provided and the posts are suggesting a trap will now have to be used.

I do hope they find the missing Sheltie, I can't imagine what it would be like to lose one of ours.  It is the wrong time of year as well with the frosts and fireworks around.

There has been a sighting of him this morning. No details are going to be posted as they don't want lots of people turning up. Fingers crossed he will be caught today. Poor boy must be petrified and freezing

It seems this lovely boy is safe - well done to all who helped to rescue him clap

From Doglost

"Doogie is safe. Having spent 2 days tracking him we ascertained he was attempting to make his way home. With kind permission of his owners who are on holiday in Turkey myself and another member of the Greyhound Gap team stayed in their house over night. Night vision cameras were placed into the garden and a large cage trap. At 5.30am this morning he walked straight into it. Weve arranged to take him back to our kennels till the onwers come back from holiday Sunday to ensure he stays put."
