I have been following this story since the start and this is why Im a proud sheltie owner because the people who have shelties care not only for their own shelties but ALL shelties.

What wonderfull caring people you all are.

I will certainly suggest they join the forum to keep you all updated.

I have spoken to the kennels today. Our boy is going to be castrated so if he is fit to travel Saturday morning I will be taking him then. I asked how he was going on with his toileting and they said he is no longer fouling his bed and is moving further towards the door to toilet. They said to me "he seems to be getting the idea". So pleased for our boy clap

I collected him from the kennels today. He was so frightened. I crouched down to him and it was almost like he recognised me and jumped into my arms, kissing me and wagging his tail frantically. We then did the journey up to his new home in Middlesborough. He cried and barked for a while during the journey, but pretty soon settled down.

His new owners adore him and he adores them. They have informed me that they will be joining the forum to keep you all updated on his progress. He now has a name - Alfie.

It tugged at my heartstrings leaving him - I almost turned around and picked him back up, but I know he has a super forever home where he will be given love, kindness and patience. Thank you to Alistair and Helena for offering him a second chance.

I will be going to visit him in the new year.

God bless little Alfie. Life has now begun for you beautiful boy love sablegallop

I would just like to add that the usual breed rescue clubs are still in operation and whilst they were briefed about this particular case, as he was brought to my particular attention by my vets whom I have a very close professional relationship with, and as the adoptees came recommended to me, on this occasion I dealt with the rehoming of this particular dog.

I have followed this story and Oh what a lovely ending tissue What a wonderful bunch of caring people. I would wager though that most of his problems will disappear when he is snug as a bug in a loving home. I just don't think shelties do well in the situation Alfie found himself in.
